Getting started
- Set up a hosted MachineSign in, start your free days, connect your mail and pick your model. It takes a few minutes.
- Run it on your own computerInstall the open-source app on Linux, macOS or Windows. Free, with your own model and your own data.
- Install the app and turn on notificationsInstall The Machine on your phone or computer and get a notification for each to-do. Telegram is optional.
- Find your way aroundWhat each part of the dashboard is for, from Suggestions to Connections.
- Keyboard and the command paletteReach everything on the dashboard from the keyboard: the palette, go-to keys and keys on a to-do.
- Move to your own computerExport everything from a hosted Machine in one encrypted file and import it on your own computer.
- Ask HelpAsk how The Machine works. Answers come from these help pages, with links.
To-dos and chat
- To-dosOne to-do per thing that needs you, ready for your yes. What the parts of a to-do mean.

- To-do chatAsk about a to-do or change its draft, in a chat that belongs to that to-do.
- Hand to Claude Code or CodexSend a coding to-do to Claude Code or Codex. The result comes back on the to-do.
